We just came off a great week at the Latin Alternative Music Conference… played some hot shows and made lots of new friends. Look out for the good word on all things Chico coming to a Latin news network near you very soon…
Wednesday night at the Mercury Lounge we played the conference’s opening night showcase and were lucky enough to meet the one and only Jon Pareles of the New York Times. Jon was really digging the show and gave us a fantastic write-up in the Times which you can read here.
Saturday night at Glasslands we shared the stage with the Chilean sensation Ana Tijoux who was also one of the conference’s most talked about artists. There are plans for a Chico Manna Tijoux collab in the future and we’ll hit you with that once it’s good to go.
Back in May Chico visited American Apparel’s Viva Radio for an interview and live performance in their studio tucked away in the back of a converted old porno theater on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn. The result - utter heat and hilarity. Click on the image below to hear about Chico’s experiences with freestyle legend Noel, Caito’s boy band past and of course 20 minutes of Chico fire.
We’re taking some time off for the remainder of the summer but there may be a few gigs popping up so we’ll definitely hit you with updates on all that but get ready for the fall release of Analog Drift: Muy...Esniqui which will be released on Wax Poetics Records on CD and limited edition, hand numbered vinyl.
Until then, we leave you with one of our favorites… Enjoy
